This is the first DVD release from Philadelphia based filmmaker Ted Passon. It features his award-winning short film ?Robot Boy? about a young boy whose parents decide to improve his less-than-perfect human parts with robot parts and a remote control. The soundtrack features songs from Kimya Dawson and Adam Green as well as a score from members of Philadelphia?s Dr. Dog.
?Robot Boy? premiered at the first ever student film festival in Fiji, which Ted curated and presented to the village of Wairiki on the island of Taveuni. It is still traveling to film festivals all over the US and has won over 6 awards to date.
The DVD also contains four other short films including a music video for the Kimya Dawson song ?Lullaby for the Taken? off of Hidden Vagenda. It was conceived and shot in eight days during a Midwest tour and features cameo appearances by the Butchies.
The three other short films by Passon include: ?Red Bugs? about a chance meeting in an ethnographic backdrop, ?My Sister?s Friend?s Always Seemed So Old? a found footage video about 15 year olds in 1990 auditioning for a talent show, and ?Operation Infinite Christmas? an ode to suburbia that follows a team of southern New Jersey renegades plotting to project an image of a hammer and sickle on a large water tower on the day after Christmas.
Ted Passon resides in Philadelphia where he co-runs both the Small Change film screening series (www.smallchangescreenings.com); a monthly showing of short experimental films and videos, as well the Padlock Gallery (www.padlockgallery.com); a living room gallery that features monthly exhibits of Philadelphia artists.
