"With Exhaling Lungs" I spew through my man-maw of a blowhole mouth and shower Bird by Snow's ANTLERS AND THE SUN with everlasting misty praise.
Not your typical "folk" album, ANTLERS AND THE SUN opens up an array of musical possibility, instrument after instrument pop in and out framing something that is both innovative and yet disarmingly comfortable. 'Tis akin to a trek through tall grass and gloaming in order to reach an undiscovered cliffside and thus, the fully fructified natural ocean. Playful in his instrumentation, Bird by Snow sidles by the need for any lyrical irony, drenching his vocals with a sincere air that refreshes and compliments the record's many other sounds.
This album has drumming, singing and all variations of picking. There lies a precision and confidence in each and every musical choice. At its onset it's easy enough to realize you are in good hands and can surrender to the earthy goodness. THE debut record of 2005. Eat it up, let it wash over you.
This album is punctuated with jazzamorphoic saxophone and the chanty sing-a-long epic narrative "Please Favor Me World" (the album's quintessential track).
Nice cover, artwork and music should be spread to all. Also, feel free to bury it in your backyard for discovery later in the present. This record is TIME CAPSULE READY.
