Helsing Junction Sleepover and Farm Flood Relief Benefit

Helsing Junction Farm and K are co-sponsoring the Helsing Junction Sleepover, a three day camp-out combined with music concert held at the Helsing Junction farm near Rochester, Wash., the weekend of August 15, 16 and 17, 2008. There will be live music Friday evening and all day Saturday into the night, with music continuing Sunday from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This year's Helsing Junction Sleepover is dedicated to those affected by last fall's Chehalis River flood, which caused major damage to the Helsing Junction farm and many of their neighbors, who are still experiencing financial setbacks from this natural disaster. The proceeds from the Helsing Junction Sleepover will be donated to the Olympia Food Co-Op's well-organized farm-relief fund.

Participants are encouraged to stay all weekend with camping in the scenic orchard, swimming in the lustrous Chehalis River, and eating of the irresistible food provided by the farm and other local vendors.

Music and multimedia performances will feature artists from Olympia, Portland and around the Northwest, including Mirah, Alan Alexander, Tender Forever, Calvin Johnson, City Center, Danny Kelly, Explode into Colors, Gary May, Hooliganship, Jared Snyder, Karl Blau, Knot Pine Box, LAKE, Pine Hill Haints, Powerknap, Rushin' Disco, Sunmay, Valet and more.   Film screenings will feature recent work from Vanessa Renwick, the founder of the Portland, Ore. based film production company the Oregon Department of Kick Ass; Jesse Malmed (Team Makes), a multimedia artist based in San Francisco; and Cartune Xprez, a travelling road show of animated videos and multimedia performances.

Helsing Junction Farm, located near Rochester, Wash. (18 miles south of Olympia; http://www.helsingfarmcsa.com /) is organized as a CSA (Community Supported agriculture). They provide a weekly box of seasonal organic vegetables to over 500 subscribers throughout Western Washington. The farm is located on the banks of the Chehalis River.

K is a record label located in Olympia, Wash. that has been working with underground artists since 1982.
