GENE DEFCON: bio

Eugene Gordon Defcon, also known as Gene Defcon, is a pop rock disco party machine. His music mirrors a creative mind that’s been perverted by the intoxicating properties of pure love and unadulterated good times. Before playing under his name Gene Defcon, Gene started playing around with his first band the Prima Donnas. He then moved on, taking the name Otto Matik. When he and his fellow members decided to move from Austin, TX to San Francisco, CA, Gene found himself in Olympia, WA. After writing music and releasing home-recorded solo cassettes, friends from Bikini Kill, Mocket, Tight Bros from Way Back When, and Bangs joined in to back him up live. In 2000 Modern Radio Records released his first singled Baby, Hallelujah. The same year his first solo album followed: Come Party With Me 2000, also on K Records as well as the Have a Good Time single as party of the International Pop Underground series. Five years later, in 2005, Gene Defcon released his latest full length entitled Throw Up and Die on Retard Disco. It contains 46 songs about parties, Mexican girlfriends, parties, and parties. He currently resides in Austin, TX and works with his own label/arts collective Business Deal.
